PROGRESS AT COLPE CROSS / BEAMORE
I have been in discussions with the Meath County Council Road Safety Officer, Michael Finnegan, over the last few weeks regarding traffic and safety issues at Colpe Cross and also along the Beabeg – Beamore Road.
Mr Finnegan has advised me that Meath County Council and Shannon Homes are in discussions at present and are trying to resolve the traffic and safety concerns at Colpe Cross. They have advised me that a resolution will be achieved over the next few days. I am keeping the pressure on both parties.
In regard to the Beabeg – Beamore Road, the current speed limit on this road is 80 km/h. Speed limits in County Meath are currently being reviewed and it is expected that the speed limit on this road will be reviewed. It is expected that the results of the review will be published over the next couple of weeks. All results will be published in local papers and also in display in local county council offices.
A lot will depend on Garda enforcement and I am confident, that working with the Gardai, we will increase enforcement on this road.
Mr Finnegan, as already indicated by me, has agreed to meet with residents and we expect that this will take place soon. He is currently busy on a schools safety project and will arrange the meeting when this is completed.
I will keep residents informed of all developments regarding these issues.
