BUS EIREANN - CARLANSTOWN
Following a proposal put forward to me by a local Bus Eireann driver, I have written to Bus Eireann asking them to submit an application to the Department of Transport for a change in the Bailieboro – Kells - Dublin route, to serve Carlanstown.
At present, the Bailieboro – Dublin bus serves Moynalty and then heads directly to Kells, but I believe it would make far more sense for the bus, on leaving Moynalty, to then serve Carlanstown and continue on to Kells.
At the moment, residents in Carlanstown are not being served by any Bus Eireann route to Kells and Dublin. Many of these people are working commuters so I want to see a viable Bus service in place. It would, in my view, be just as quick for the bus to take the Carlanstown route.
Presently, two buses daily at 09.15 and 19.40 travel the Bailieboro – Kells route with a daily service from Bailieboro – Kells – Dublin at 14.40. On the return, there is a Kells – Bailieboro bus at 08.45 daily while there are also two daily buses on the Dublin – Kells – Bailieboro route at 12.30 and 17.30.
I have written to the Regional Manager in Bus Eireann asking him to strongly consider adding Carlanstown to the route. In the past, I have received numerous representations on behalf of residents in the Carlanstown area in relation to the lack of a Bus Eireann service. I look forward to hearing back from Bus Eireann concerning my proposal.
