MORNINGTON FLOOD PROTECTION SCHEME

The official launch of the public exhibition of the Mornington Flood Protection Scheme by Minister of State, Noel Ahern T.D., took place today in the Bettystown Court Hotel.

The Mornington River Drainage and Flood Relief Programme is set to be a huge improvement for residents to remove the threat of flooding, as happened in 2002. That year, an extreme storm surge along the east coast caused widespread flooding in the Mornington area which affected many local residents.

The public exhibition in the Bettystown Court Hotel and at the County Council Offices in Duleek has now been launched as of today, March 11. The plans will be on display until Monday April 7.

I urge as many residents as possible to attend the public consultations. Those from the area have a particular knowledge of tides and flooding and drainage and it is very important that all local knowledge be given to the consultants.

Representatives from the Office of Public Works and their Consulting Engineers, RPS, will be in attendance at the Bettystown Court Hotel on the following dates to answer any questions that interested persons may have. I encourage local residents to visit the exhibition and voice their opinion.

Tuesday, March 11 – 2pm to 5pm
Tuesday, March 18 - 5pm to 8pm
Wednesday, March 26 – 2pm – 5pm
Tuesday, April 1 - 5pm – 8pm
Monday, April 7 - 2pm – 5pm

You made good points on primetime especially about the N3 being unsafe. Well Done. As A Skryne resident I and the whole area support the M3. Go to Tarawatch's website. The contact page is full of Uk email addresses and Glen of Downs references. The sooner it is built the better. Well Done for speaking out.
