Meath East says yes, but it's not enough

Thanks to the team which worked so hard. It shows up in the figures.

My target was 65% Yes, but it was not possible to buck the national trend.

This does not take from the hard work put in by all the team in all parts of the constituency.

My only question for the No campaign is - why would Kildare North's soldiers have one of the biggest Yes votes, if we were all to end up conscripted into an EU army!

Perhaps because, as professional soldiers, they are interested in becoming professionals in an EU army where, one would assume, pay, training and funding would be better than their current military employers provide?

I think it is somewhat simplistic to focus on only one item that caused concern among a majority of voters.
