ROAD SAFETY AT OLDBRIDGE
I am calling on Meath County Council to address road safety issues at The Obelisk Bridge, Oldbridge.
Following numerous representations made by me by concerned locals, I have written to Meath County Council, requesting that the Council put in place double yellow lines preventing parking on a 24 hour basis in the vicinity of the Obelisk and Oldbridge House.
The volume of traffic there has greatly increased since the opening of Oldbridge House to the public which is now an important tourist attraction in the region. There is a serious safety issue concerning indiscriminate parking along the canal beside The Obelisk Bridge.
Meath County Council previously notified me that the Area Engineer is also looking at ways to control and manage traffic at this location. I will keep the pressure on in this regard to improve road safety in the area.
