AN BORD TO HOLD ORAL HEARING INTO COLLEGE PROTEINS

I have been notified by An Bord Pleanala that it is to hold an Oral Hearing into the proposed development at College Proteins, Nobber.

An Bord Pleanala have decided to hold an Oral Hearing in relation to the proposed Heat and Power Plant development at College Proteins. There will be a preliminary meeting on August 18 at The Newgrange Hotel, Navan, with a substantive hearing commencing on August 26 at the same location.

This follows the huge number of submissions lodged by local residents to the proposal including myself. An Bord had previously ruled that the proposed incinerator qualifies as a Special Infrastructural Development Scheme (SIDS) placing it outside the rulings of Meath County Council planners.

There are important health and environmental considerations to take into account with regard to this project. It is important that job creation is encouraged across the county but not at any cost. I encourage people who have already prepared submissions to prepare formal oral submissions in preparation for the oral hearings in August.
